Bringing the function of full sized computer keyboards to smartphones, Matias has unveiled four new keypads for the iPhone as well as the BlackBerry handset. Three of these are compatible with the Apple device, while one is aimed at the latter. All four products will work with both PC as well as Mac.
The One keyboard for BlackBerry weighs approximately 750g, and measures 18.7 x 6.8 x 1.4 inches. Incorporated with a USB 2.0 hub, it simply requires a PC or Mac with a port for the same. It can be used with RIM handsets like the BlackBerry Pearl running OS 4.2.1 and higher, BlackBerry Bold, Curve, Pearl 3G, Pearl Flip, Torch, Tour and Storm as well as Storm2. The MiniRizer stand lifts and tilts the smartphone to give users a better view of the screen either at 40° or 50°.
“Press the Connect button and the keyboard is now controlling your BlackBerry. Press Connect again to instantly switch back to your PC or Mac. Simple,” explained Edgar Matias, CEO of Matias. “If you’re a BBM user, it’s a totally new experience. You save an incredible amount of time. Obviously, typing is much faster, but our software driver also gives you much greater control of your BlackBerry. You can set up keyboard shortcuts to open apps, web pages, and much more.”
Other than this, the new range released at the CES 2012 includes three iPhone specific versions for the PC and Mac titled One keyboard, Slim One keyboard and Tactile One keyboard. The Slim One keyboard includes a MiniRizer stand, while the Tactile One keyboard is said to give the feel of Alps mechanical keyswitches as experienced in the Apple Extended keyboard. The One keyboard comes with a built-in stand apt for accessing the touch controls on the handset.
The Matias One keyboard for BlackBerry price tag reads $99.95. Also, the Matias One keyboard, Slim One keyboard, and Tactile One keyboard prices are revealed to be $99.95, $79.95, and $199.95, respectively.
