iPhone users can now go on long drives and also use their iPhone in an optimal way while they are traveling. Well, Magellan proclaimed their release of the Magellan RoadMate turn-by-turn navigation app for the iPhone. The company also launched their new ground-breaking vehicle mounting cradle namely the Premium Car Kit for iPhone.

The Premium Car Kit provides charging facilities and offers a chic car mounting and charging solution for the iPhone. The cradle comprises of a GPS receiver for superior navigation precision, an amplified speaker for crystal clear directions and improved phone call clarity, and Bluetooth to facilitate hands-free calling.

Peggy Fong, chief operating officer for Magellan, commented, “The Magellan RoadMate App provides users instant access to Magellan’s innovative, easy-to-use OneTouch interface, including: vehicle and pedestrian routing, in-app music control, native address book integration and turn-by-turn guidance including Text-to-Speech, all in one integrated and unique navigation experience.”

Magellan RoadMate App boasts of Magellan’s unique OneTouch user menu, enabling users to stock addresses and personalized searches on one suitable page. A single tap is all that one needs to access them. Moreover, the app provides drivers the liberty to select from a record of route alternatives like quickest time, shortest distance, most use of highways, or least use of highways to customize the navigation experience.

Users can access the app and maps even with no coverage as they already come pre-loaded with the iPhone. The Turn-By-Turn Guidance announces maneuvers before the turn, allowing users to focus on the road. Users can hear spoken street names with each voice direction having a lucid understanding of when to make the subsequent turn while they concentrate on the road. This is possible with the Text-to-Speech feature. In the Millions of Points of Interest (POIs), users have access to about 6 million POIs by merely a touch, counting gas stations, restaurants, ATMs, emergency services, shopping and other destinations.

Oversized Keyboard and QuickSpell along with SmartCity search enables users to insert addresses in a few touches by tapering down their location search. With 3D landmarks, life-like 3D depictions of chief landmarks show the route with striking visual cues. Highway Lane Assistance facilitates realistic views of highway signs with visibly exhibited lane arrows to assist in navigating complex interchanges by placing the driver in the correct path for forthcoming maneuvers.

The Pedestrian Mode lets users effortlessly navigate places on foot. In Find Your Car, the device mechanically stores the parking position to smoothly locate the way back to the car. Users can also run their music directly from the application so they never have to depart from the app to operate their music. Users can also easily navigate to destinations from hoarded addresses in the device’s address book. The maps for the application are supplied by NAVTEQ.

The Magellan RoadMate App (U.S. & Canada maps) is obtainable for an opening cost of $79.99 from the App Store on iPhone and iPod touch devices or at iTunes.com. The car kit will be available from December, 2009 for $129.99.
