LG Prada to hit Japanese Markets

LG Prada

LG Prada will soon be available to the customers in Japan, almost a year after it went on sale. It was first unveiled in January 2007. Japanese customers will have an added advantage of 3G. This 3G version is called L8521i in Japan. Worth the wait!Weighing 92 grams it measures 101x54x12.7mm.

Its looks haven’t changed much, it has the same shiny black case and 3-inch touchscreen. It still has the three buttons in a row on the outer cover which had it compared to Apple’s iPhone. The same 2MP camera but video telephony along with 3G has added a sub-camera, 240×400 pixels WQVGA display and 7.2 Mbps download over HSDPA.

Prada is said to have reached Japan after such a long time due to technical reasons. Japan uses a proprietary 2G standard, so 3G support is important if an international handset is to be launched there. Its due to this reason that iPhone is not yet launched in Japan.

This new Prada has the latest 3G support and is compatible with the basic 2.1 GHz WCDMA band used by NTT DOCOMO. It has a new 800MHz band but there is no GSM support for roaming.

The new Prada is expected to be priced at US$815.
