Those waiting to lay their hands on an Android phone can now do so with the LG GW620. LG has announced the launch of its first Android phone in the Indian market. Following the success of LG Cookie Pep and Chocolate, now LG plans to take the markets by storm with the new offering.

The phone has been designed to help users keep in touch with their near and dear ones by articulating communication and applications like voice calls, emails, text messages, images and status updates for singular viewing. Besides, the user is given an option of synchronizing the phone with social networking sites for interesting and enjoyable phone experiences.

Sudhin Mathur, Business Head, Mobile communications expressed his opinion on the arrival of the first Android smartphone in India by saying that, “LG’s first Android phone, LG GW620, was developed keeping in mind the ever growing demands from consumers to have a phone on which they can multi-task, with the new Android phone users can surf the internet, do business on the go, seek directions, enjoy audio-video entertainment, play games, take pictures and a lot more. The launch further reiterates LG’s commitment to push boundaries in mobile phone innovation and design. We are sure that with LG’s accumulated technology leadership in mobile phone industry and our consistent strategy to support every existing operating system, LG will provide better choices and benefits to our consumers.”

The smartphone is powered by Android and sports a 3.0-inch touchscreen. It comes with a side slider QWERTY keypad, 5MP camera, Wi-Fi, hi-speed EDGE and GPS connectivity for web surfing at top speed and dedicated music keys on the side panel of the phone for quick music access. The 5 row side sliding QWERTY keypad along with the dedicated numeric buttons and arrow keys make it easier for the user to add text when updating social network profiles, messaging, emailing and accessing the menu. The phone is also equipped with a microSD card slot.

The LG GW620 comes with a dual boot option, whereby users can either run the standard Android menu option or operate the LG S-Class interface in which the menu is classified into options like communication and multimedia. The homescreen allows easy access to widgets, shortcuts and folders. The phone has Moxier suite of products available for its business-minded users. Through this feature, users are enabled for corporate use of calendars and contacts on the phone. Along with this another work-related suite is available so as to utilize Word, Excel and PDF files on the handset. The phone can now be purchased at a retail price of Rs.16,490 from all leading mobile stores.
