The Lernstift digital pen that is currently asking for users’ backing through Kickstarter, is a tool that vibrates every time a person makes a typo or an error while writing in the traditional way. Unlike a number of other digital pens, this device doesn’t require a specialty paper, applications or gadgets to point out spelling mistakes.
This writing instrument has an ergonomic design and a recessed grip can be found on its chassis for making it comfortable for kids and people with small hands. Additionally, it has interchangeable tips and can act as a pencil, a fountain pen as well as a ball point pen. The device is also likely to come in at least two color variants.
The Linux-based Lernstift pen is integrated with an oval-shaped board which consists of a processor, system memory, motion sensors and a vibration module amongst others. This device will also be compatible with hotspots, thanks to built-in Wi-Fi. Its primary functions are to recognize spelling errors with the help of the orthography mode and to keep a check on form and legibility using the calligraphy mode. Whenever a person makes a mistake, the tool senses it and vibrates in order to bring it to the writer’s notice.
As the tool has Wi-Fi, it can be expected to work in conjunction with a number of other devices like mobile phones, tablets, desktops, laptops and more with just a little assistance of dedicated applications. This will not only allow parents to keep track on their children’s errors, but will also facilitate collaboration between colleagues. On launch, the gadget will support English and German and will be optimized for other languages like French, Spanish, Italian and Russian to name a few in the future.
The Lernstift pen is currently listed on Kickstarter and has to collect £120,000 in the next 25 days. It already has 157 backers who have pledged £15,627 so far.
