BlackBerry Q5 to be launched in India starting at Rs 25,000

It’s time that the BlackBerry Q5 takes a leap out of the box within a matter of 24 hours and lands in India. BlackBerry may or may not announce the third BB10 smartphone in the country tomorrow as had been leaked earlier, but the device is already up for grabs through eBay and it will soon be arriving on Flipkart’s doorstep as well.

Showing off a touch and type design, the handset has been engineered to appease the mid-segment. Similar to the Q10’s display, the 3.1-inch Super AMOLED touchscreen of the BlackBerry Q5 spurts out pictures and videos at a resolution of 720 x 720 pixels. A 1.2GHz dual core processor coupled with 2GB of RAM toils to deliver the speed required for multitasking.

A 2MP camera has been lodged into the device’s face, while the flip side holds onto a 5MP camera. Lying below the rear panel is a 2,180mAh battery which should work towards providing up to 12 hours of talk time or 840 hours of standby to 3G users. The internal memory sums up to 8GB, but the manufacturer has offered expandability options of up to 32GB for anyone who finds the flash storage capacity insufficient.

While it had been noted last week that the Q5 handset would be pinned at a price ranging from Rs 25,000 to 30,000, eBay has already stocked it at a starting amount of Rs 27,399. However, Flipkart has yet to reveal a retail value for the same.
