Lenovo ThinkCentre Edge 62z priced at $549, arriving this May

After introducing India to 18 AIOs, Lenovo has quickly made another move with the ThinkCentre Edge 62z for the US, priced starting at $549. The company says that work environments which need to economize on space are the focus here and healthcare as well as education sectors are part of the target market.

In fact, the space-saving starts with the screen size itself which measures just 18.5 inches. The chassis is built so that the unit can be mounted onto a wall if necessary. It is accompanied by a wireless mouse and a keyboard which further add to the clutter-free appeal that AIOs exude above anything else; it can’t just be us who find the lack of wires and separate CPU the most attractive thing about such desktops.

Moving on to the hardware packed into the AIO, users can configure it with choices of up to 3rd generation Intel Core i3 processors. The best options noted by the manufacturer in terms of the other available specifications cover 1TB in HDD storage, 8GB of DDR3 RAM and the Microsoft Windows 7 Professional 64 OS. There’s mention of self-encrypting drives and a Hardware Password Manager feature too.

Keeping the idea of office or business use a priority, the accompanying web conferencing solution that includes the HP webcam even brings in keystroke noise suppression. The last mentioned is a technology which minimizes the keyboard clicking volume so that the person on the other end is not disturbed by the noise. Since we’re on the subject of audio, might as well mention that the AIO also houses a pair of in-built 2W speakers.

Six USB 2.0 ports are spread across the edges of the PC for hooking up peripherals and other compatible extras and there’s a DVD read/write drive too. Another bit worth talking about is the company’s Enhanced Experience 3 utility. It basically means that the desktop could probably boast of starting up nearly 40% quicker than a regular Windows 7 computer owing to optimized processes, system files and hardware settings.
