Lenovo P780 comes forth with 4,000mAh battery and more

Out of the blue, a new Lenovo smartphone has dashed out into the open in the form of the P780 which is being teased right now in China through a video featuring NBA star Kobe Bryant. This 5-inch handset is said to come affixed with a whopping 4000mAh battery. It seems to be a notch up in every department as compared to its predecessor, the P770. Its price is yet unclear, as official word on it is still being awaited.

Although the video was the only source of information about this phone a few days back, new details have come forth through some posts on the Chinese equivalent of Twitter, dubbed Sina Weibo. As observed by Engadget, a few official accounts of the company had confirmed that a 5-inch display will indeed be present on it. Now, the resolution of this screen is still unknown, but 720p capability cannot be considered a losing bet.

Another important bit of information is about its apparent 4,000mAh battery which should set it apart from others in the league. Also, the above mentioned website has cited some more details which it spotted on MyDrivers. The phone will purportedly bear a 9.9mm thick body, and will possess the ‘super sensitive touch’ technology which we’ve seen on the likes of the Nokia Lumia 820 and the Lumia 920.

And that’s not all; a user named Lisancha on Sina Weibo has come up with additional specifications of the given handset. Claiming to have got a hands-on of the apparent device, he has gone on to reveal that it comes equipped with dual SIM slots that support dual standby. Moreover, he has also claimed that a quad core MediaTek processor, quite probably the Cortex-A7-based MT6589, will be powering the phone. And as far as the OS is concerned, we can guess that version 4.2 of Google’s Android platform will be making its way into it.
