Lava has gesture controlled smartphone on its mind

Lava Mobiles seems so taken by the Galaxy S4’s Air Gesture technology, it’s planning to launch its very own smartphone which will let users interact with it via signs. In other words, certain applications on the upcoming Lava handset may support non-touch gestures made by the user.

Currently, Samsung’s bag of magic tricks has the Galaxy S4 bowing to hand motions through Air Gesture intelligence. Basically, users can check their device’s status information including notifications, battery power, time and date, missed calls, unread messages and so on with a quick wave over the screen if the phone is placed on a flat surface.

It’s also possible to scroll through mails or web pages, move between select tasks as well as answer calls without touching the display. Moving around icons on the home screen, apps menu and calendar utility with only the fingers of one hand staying in contact with the required area on the touchscreen and the other gesturing in front of it are even part of the control options.

Too fast too soon? Well, someone had to start incorporating the technology into everyday use. Lava seems to agree with the idea too. The company was seen tweeting ‘What if technology does a miracle and your hand becomes a magic wand?’ The #ifmyhandismagicwand hashtag which was pushed out by the manufacturer has been trending among Lava fans.

The fact that the company put out such a tweet led to speculations about it launching a smartphone which can recognize signs made with users’ hands. Then there was its official teaser on Twitter with a sneak peek of a new device with the words ‘Touch phone minus the touch.’ It’s coming soon, according to the picture and going by history, it should be a handset operating on Android.

There is little we can talk about the smartphone owing to the fact that nothing else about it has been revealed as of now. It’s possible that Lava will release it on a Friday since the company has been celebrating BlockBuster PhoneDay on this day of the week for quite some time now. And the price should touch the higher end of the mid-range bracket, if we’re guessing right.

Meanwhile, here’s a quick look at the magic of Air Gestures on the Galaxy S4 –
