Kobo has disclosed a new version of its Touch e-reader called the Kobo Touch with Offers. The new e-reader is quite similar to its namesake except that it comes at a reduced price and features advertisements by sponsors.
This Kobo device comes incorporated with sponsored screens and useful offers even when in the sleep mode or powered off. The ads will also be displayed on the lower end of the home screen. It allows users to browse through and purchase more than 2.2 million books as well as newspapers and magazines over Wi-Fi. This e-reader is equipped with a 6-inch E Ink touchscreen display that enables clear reading even in sunlight.
Readers are given an option of 7 font styles and 17 text sizes for customizing their reading experience. The Offers version of the Kobo Touch is preinstalled with 15 bestselling book samples and possesses features such as a new personal home screen, highlighting, various library views, dictionary look-up, automatic last page bookmarking and predictive search.
This compact device is easy to carry while on the go with a weight of 186g and a 10mm slim form factor. Users can read for up to one month with just a single battery charge. Additionally, it is integrated with 1GB internal memory that can store up to 1,000 books. This memory can be expanded with an SD card for offering a capacity of stashing about 30,000 books.
The Kobo Touch with Offers is priced at $99.99 and is scheduled to commence shipping within two to three weeks.
