A new strategic offer has been launched by Kobo in a bid to expand its eReading market share. According to the official Kobo blog, customers of the Kobo Touch can become members of the Kobo 2012 Book Club by way of which they would be entitled to receive a free eBook every month right through 2012.

Introduced in May this year, the Kobo Touch started retailing in June and as the name suggests, it lets readers peruse content on the 6-inch Pearl high contrast eInk touchscreen display that it is equipped with. According to this free book per month offer, users will receive a promo code in January next year which can be redeemed to choose a free book to read that month.

Among the collection of free eBooks on offer for the month of January are, Pride and Prejudice – the Wild and Wanton edition by Anabella Bloom and Jane Austen, Star Wars Vs Star Trek by Matt Forbeck and HBR’s 10 Must Reads: On Managing People published by Harvard Business Review Press. The eReader is capable of storing about 30,000 books when its memory is expanded to 32GB through the microSD card slot and it comes dressed in colors like white, lilac, blue, silver and black.

The Kobo 2012 Book Club membership and the offer of a free eBook every month through next year can be availed of by users who buy and activate a Kobo Touch eReader until March 31, 2012. This offer is only available for those residing in Canada and the U.S.
