KipCall version 1.0 unveiled to call Facebook friends without using their phone number

iPhone Screenshot Social networking addicts who keep themselves in the loop all the time can now connect with their Facebook friends without using their phone numbers. MobileGlobe has now released version 1.0 of KipCall for iPhone to call Facebook friends with no phone number, Wi-Fi or 3G requirements. Users can also decide whether to block people or allow them to call.

The app does not reveal any details about the location and accommodates a list filter, which is missing in Facebook. KipCall owners can see when another the KipCall user is at a distance of 0, 62 miles. Developed to bring in voice calls onto social life, the app replaces phone numbers with Facebook.

“In the short term, I believe KipCall will change the way people keep in touch – I can’t wait to hear a girl say to a guy ‘just KipCall me’. In the long term, I think it will kill phone numbers, which are meant to die anyway. We don’t want to change voice communication, this is great. We just want to adapt it to make it better,” stated Yoann Valensi, CEO, MobileGlobe.

Friends can be blocked simply by turning their phone off to some people only. Thanks to KipCall that Facebook users can now get in touch with their friends just like a regular call, even without a phone number. This version will be limited to calls within North America that is in Canada and USA alone. MobileGlobe will soon roll out BlackBerry and Android versions of the app as well.

KipCall can be downloaded from the App Store by logging in with Facebook ID.
