The moment has arrived when the Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7 and 8.9 have shed their pre-order titles and have hit availability status in India through the company’s recently announced online store. And just as promised, Amazon has also put the 3G as well as Wi-Fi-only variants of its Paperwhite eReader up on sale at Rs 13,999 and Rs 10,999, respectively.
Even way before the Kindle Fire HD 7 and 8.9 crossed the country’s threshold, little had been left to our imaginations in terms of their specifications. Apart from their screen estates which are quite obvious, thanks to the moniker, both are known to accommodate 10-point capacitive touch panels employing IPS technology. However, the smaller tablet encompasses a resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, while the other touts a 1920 x 1200p screen.
Each has been launched in models peddling an inbuilt hoarding space of either 16GB or 32GB. The 7-inch slab alleges to survive for up to 11 hours if used for browsing over Wi-Fi, watching videos or listening to music and its 8.9-inch sibling claims to render an hour less for the same activities.
There are no surprises when it comes to the price details of the Kindle Fire HD series. For the 7-inch slab’s 16GB variant, buyers will have to part with Rs. 15,999, while a retail tag of Rs 18,999 has been fastened to the 32GB model. Those on the lookout for the larger device have to splurge a minimum of Rs 21,999, in order to take it home.
