Tablet Screen Size Report

Taking a lot of people by surprise, comScore reports that the Amazon Kindle Fire has gobbled up above half the share of the Android tablet market. The findings are part of the company’s Device Essentials service.

The aforementioned tablet started off its journey in November 2011 and boasted of nothing less than 54.4% share, as noted in the month of February. This means that the figure has almost doubled from the 29.4% share it was calculated to have captured in December.

Android Tablet Share

The other slates munching on the Google mobile OS namely, the Samsung Galaxy Tab series and Motorola Xoom took away 15.4% and 7% share, correspondingly. The fourth and fifth positions were occupied by the Asus Transformer and Toshiba AT100 with 6.3% and 5.7% share, in that order.

As far as tablets are concerned, screen-size apparently played a primary role in sales. With a variety of display sizes from 5 inches to 10 inches coming in, the competition is far from tame. According to the statistics, 10-inch tablets witnessed 30% more buyers than 7-inch counterparts and almost 58% more than 5-inch slates.

Network Operator Share

The survey points out to the leading trends when it comes to tablet sales and it should aid advertisers and publishers. With regards to network carriers, AT&T supposedly claimed the highest share in the US. The second entrant was Verizon, followed by Sprint PCS and T-Mobile. The shares attained by all these service providers were variable in different locations in the US.

With regards to the Android market, the only way is ‘up’ for the Amazon Kindle Fire, as far as we can see.
