KDDI teams up with Facebook, new social experience for mobile phones in Japan

It’s now time for handset users in Japan to get some social networking loving. KDDI joins hands with Facebook to offer mobile consumers in the country an enhanced social communication experience.

According to a recent announcement, the two companies have agreed to work mutually so that KDDI users open up to Facebook across a host of KDDI services. The usability of Facebook has been improved with the overhaul of the social address book ‘jibe’ application’s user interface. Specifically the iida ‘Infobar A01’ will gain a refined Facebook widget too.

“We are always looking to work with innovative operators on ways to enable people to easily access Facebook wherever they are,” mentioned Henri Moissinac, Head of Mobile Business, Facebook. “Through our collaboration with KDDI we’re thrilled to offer yet another way for people to stay connected with their friends and family through Facebook and bring a high quality mobile application.”

Alongside, a host of KDDI services like ‘au one portal’, shopping and music are set to be hooked up to Facebook’s social graphs. The partnership will further enable the two companies to enrich the social communication journey for au mobile phone users in particular. They are likely to gain an efficient mechanism to share and communicate information.

KDDI does intend expanding the upsides of Facebook to more than just mobile phones. Until then, we’ll have to wait and watch if Japanese mobile users blend in the social world amiably.
