The Karbonn Smart A1 Star and A5 Star have struck online stores in India, only to add to the pile of budget-friendly 3.5-inch Android smartphones in the market such as the Intex Cloud X3 and the Fly F351. Karbonn has sculpted both the devices to show off 320 x 480p touch panels and there aren’t many aspects in which they differ, including their storage configuration, system memory and processor.
This brings us to the internal space that amounts to 512MB for each smartphone. We wouldn’t blame customers if they find this too less to satiate their hoarding needs, which is why the handsets individually tout a microSD card slot to facilitate further expansion of up to 32GB. Even the clock speed of both gadgets’ processors is 1GHz.
One of the most striking comparisons can be made on the basis of the platforms that the phones run on. The former has been optimized for Android 4.0, whereas the other thrives on version 2.3 of Google’s mobile OS.
While the webcams of both hold onto a VGA sensor, the ICS-driven device bears a 3MP main shooter and the Gingerbread-powered handset comes with a 3.2MP snapper. Finally, the Karbonn Smart A1 Star conceals a 1,450mAh battery under its rear panel, while the A5 Star draws power from a 1,200mAh power pack.
The black-hued Smart A1 Star has struck Flipkart and Saholic at varying rates of Rs 3,890 and Rs 3,514, respectively. Not only has the former e-retailer promised to stock the handset in white, but it is also the only portal to proffer the A5 Star which is priced at Rs 4,890. The ICS smartphone can also be found pegged at Rs 3,675 on Snapdeal and Rs 3,629 on Infibeam.
