iPhone 5 Verizon and Sprint versions don’t support simultaneous voice and data

The iPhone 5 has managed to make it to the headlines once again with its simultaneous voice and data feature being unsupported on Verizon and Sprint networks. Well, this seems to be limited only to the two carriers in the US as AT&T has another story to tell altogether.

Based on the details provided by Verizon and Sprint, The Verge reports that Apple’s latest iPhone will not render support to simultaneous voice and data even if the phone offers LTE support on both carriers. This could set a major drawback for the company as most handsets from the former network provider’s 4G LTE lineup have this capability.

“The iPhone 5 was designed to allow customers to place a voice call on the Verizon Wireless network, while letting customers access the Internet over the WiFi,” says a spokesperson from Verizon Wireless.

AT&T states that its version of the smartphone will certainly arrive with the feature on-board and it will be available over HSPA+ and LTE networks. However, users will not be access data with LTE speeds while on a call. The lack of this feature on the iPhone 5 via Verizon and Sprint will certainly be disappointing for those looking forward to it. They might even have to reconsider purchasing the handset from another carrier altogether.

To sum it all up, the iPhone 5 Verizon and Sprint versions will not support simultaneous voice and data, but the variant from AT&T will.
