The exclusive two-year deal between Apple and O2 is about to end and it is known that the company may offer the iPhone 3G for sale to other wireless carriers in the UK. According to Cnet, the company may offer its iPhone 3G to the major competitors of O2 such as Orange and T-Mobile.

This would also mean that the long-lasting monopoly by O2 on iPhone sales will end soon. Apparently, T-Mobile has started informing customers that they would soon launch the iPhone.

Apart from numerous other functions, the device supports 850 / 900 / 1800 / 1900 and 850 / 1900 / 2100 HSDPA.

It is believed that Apple will soon come up with some other exclusive deals with other wireless carriers as well. There have been rumors that Verizon has been working on its 4G network based on the GSM standard and AT&T is supposedly negotiating with Apple for an exclusive deal.

Moreover, the company is hoping that opening to other carriers would lead to increased sales of the handset. On the other hand, only O2 will offer the new iPhone 3GS as the company will continue being a part of an exclusive deal.
