iOS 8 reportedly seen in action, hints at new features

Word on the street is that Apple’s upcoming iOS 8 update will bring with it a better integration of the company’s Maps service, but a new leak has given away more crucial details. A few apparent screenshots of the said operating system have landed out of nowhere, and have raised eyebrows owing to three icons that aren’t part of the software right now.

These images come via a Weibo account, and were spotted by 9to5Mac yesterday. While the design aspects of this iOS version seem extremely familiar, its three fresh icons are grabbing all the attention. TextEdit, Preview and Tips are now expected to be made part of iOS 8 by Apple.

iOS 8 Leaked

TextEdit is predicted to be a note-taking app, and hence, it could replace the current Notes function on iDevices. If true, why Apple might have felt the reason to replace it cannot be found out. Perhaps the company has added some additional features to this app.

The next new application is Preview. For Mac OS X users, the icon of this app will look familiar since there’s a program of the same name on Apple’s desktop operating system with its function being allowing you to view documents and PDFs. And the Tips icon could very well be an introduction feature for the new additions to iOS 8.

While there’s no official word on it yet, iOS 8 is expected to be unveiled at this year’s WWDC in June, so stay tuned.
