Google Smartwatch specs leak, launch coming soon?

Remember the much talked about Google Smartwatch which was supposed to be released last year? Well that was story that didn’t shape out quite good, but the product is in the news yet again, and this time, it’s looking quite credible. One of the reasons for that is a recent leak which has helped us connect the dots with another development.

Here’s how. Notorious Twitter account @EvLeaks has given out what are alleged specs of an LG-made Google Smartwatch, and this comes just when the Mountain View-based company is set to release a wearables SDK for developers. This is leading many to believe that the Google Smartwatch rumors do have some steam to them.

Google Smartwatch Mockup

This device will apparently ship with a 1.65-inch IPS LCD onboard. Its resolution will be locked at 280 x 280 pixels furthermore. Just like the Samsung Galaxy Gear 2, 512MB worth of RAM and 4GB worth of internal storage could form part of its attributes. There’s no date as to when we can expect this smartwatch to be unveiled, but fingers are being pointed towards the Google I/O 2014 conference in June.

Recently, Chrome and Android boss Sundar Pichai made a revelation that Google will soon be releasing an SDK of its own for wearables. This had led many to believe that the company could be prepping up its own devices as well, and this new leak has given more credibility to the speculations.

We’ll have more on the Google Smartwatch when additional details are available.
