Instagram will start displaying ads soon, occasionally though

Instagram has delivered ad-free services for 3 years now, but no more. The company has announced that it will soon start displaying advertisements which will be visible in users’ feed. Well, this isn’t bad news at all. We know ads can get on the nerves at times, but the SNS promises that the content it’ll show will be ‘enjoyable and creative.’

Apart from this, ads will only crop up occasionally and you’ll be able to conveniently control the visibility of such content. If you don’t like what you see, the SNS is providing the ability to hide content and provide feedback. Ads will be from different brands even the ones which you don’t follow. The company asserts that the content being delivered comes only from a handful of brands that have been part of the service.

You’ll basically be treated to high-quality photos and videos. The new changes will take flight first in the US, while there’s no confirmation on wheter ads will be rolled out on a global level. The company asserts once again that the inclusion of advertising won’t affect users’ privacy and (that) your photos as well as videos are owned by you only.

The previous major improvement carried out to the Instagram mobile applications took place back in June. The company included the ability for users to record videos of up to 15 seconds to give Vine a little competition. And to deliver a personalized experience, filters can be applied to clips. Apart from Instagram, Facebook has been concentrating on its mobile app as well, by introducing new capabilities.
