Instagram 4.1 allows for sourcing videos from media library

By updating Instagram to v4.1, Facebook seemingly plans to stop at nothing when it comes to dolling up the SNS in the race to attract Android and iOS owners. In June, Instagram had been transformed into a Vine app’s competitor when it started featuring video recording ability of up to 15 seconds. The Menlo Park guys have now come up with an attribute which permits sourcing such clips from a phone’s media library.

Users can now choose to trim videos captured in the past and it goes without saying that these snippets can be dressed with filters which are available for regular clips as well. The space to the right side of the record icon which had so far been blank, has been taken up by the option that leads to devices’ video album. Additionally, it will also be possible to club more clips than one to craft a single video of 15 seconds.

Those with handsets running Android Ice Cream Sandwich who have only been permitted to watch snippets and not capture any, can rejoice since this service is now ready to play nice. Exclusively for iOS loyalists, the app brings in the automatic image straightening option featuring a slider which can be employed to adjust a picture’s orientation manually. This tool can be used even for photos already residing in users’ gallery.

Instagram 4.1 for Android and iOS has been made available for free through Google Play and iTunes, respectively.
