Innovative iPhone application put forth by onOne Software

DSLR Camera RemoteonOne Software recently announced an application that remotely controls the Canon EOS DSLR cameras using an iPhone or iPod Touch.

The latest DSLR Camera Remote for iPhone application is coupled with a WiFi enabled computer. This allows users to remotely control the settings of the camera, fire the shutter, review images, and even get a live viewfinder preview; for photographers using a supported Canon EOS DSLR. This provides photographers with more choices while shooting difficult camera angles and self-portraits. It also improves upon events where several cameras are used and the photographer cannot monitor them all.

One of its prominent features is that the Zero configuration Apple Bonjour networking finds the camera automatically. It is also imbibed with Intervalometer for advanced timer shooting. Users can also preview images on an iPhone or iPod Touch. It is well equipped to remotely control camera settings like shutter-speed, aperture, white-balance, and more. With Live View users can remotely gaze through the camera’s viewfinder.

Craig Keudell, president of onOne Software quoted, “We are very excited about what this application offers the photography community”. He added “DSLR Camera Remote allows photographers the opportunity to get out from behind the camera and interact with their subjects while still maintaining full control of the technical details.”

DSLR Camera Remote for iPhone is offered in two versions, Professional and the Lite editions. The Professional is available for $19.99 with a limited time introductory price of $9.99 and Lite edition, is priced at $1.99. The DSLR Camera Remote may be directly purchased from the iTunes App Store. It is necessary to download an application that runs on Mac or Windows computer and it is for free. This application brings about communication between the iPhone and Canon EOS DSLR, which is connected via USB or Firewire to a WiFi enabled computer. No trial or demo versions of the DSLR Camera Remote application are available.

At the outset, the version 1.0 of the DSLR Camera Remote application supported only specific Canon EOS DSLR cameras. Newer and updated versions aiming to support diverse Nikon DSLR cameras are under development.
