Geodesic Information System, a mobile communication, collaboration and entertainment application space together with IDEA Cellular, a GSM Mobile Services Operator in India, has announced the launch of “IDEA Radio” Mobile Internet Radio service.
IDEA Radio is built on Geodesic’s Mundu Radio technology. This technology has being designed and optimized especially for mobile operations, which can enable IDEA’s subscribers to tune into a range of exciting entertainment channels. The consumers 24 hours a day and will not need to carry a separate device, or to be within the limited range of FM radio stations.
IDEA Radio currently available elsewhere on FM radio or other mobile phones offerings IVR based radio. Instead of being limited to a small, repetitive set-list of popular songs, IDEA subscribers will be able to tune into radio stations streaming 24×7, and listen to music in a wider variety.
The songs which are offered include Bollywood, Dance, Indi-pop and Love songs and also devotional music, then the music from the 80’s and 90’s, regional music like Punjabi and Bhojpuri, and western genres such as such as Pop, Rock, Hip-hop, Jazz and much more. This technology has been designed to scale unlimited channels.
As IDEA Cellular’s Chief Marketing Officer Pradeep Shrivastava explained, “We wanted to give our customers the best of breed mobile music service. IDEA subscribers can access this service through their GPRS enabled handsets. The user can through their GPRS connection as IDEA Radio comes bundled with the subscription. It also offers a free trial for a day. The users to avail this offer just needs to SMS the keyword ‘IRADIO’ and then send it to 55456 or just click on their website through their GPRS phones to download the Idea Radio client on their phone.
The cost of the subscription is flexible as the costumer can pay an amount of Rs.149 per month or Rs.10 per day.
