iBall Aasaan2 is a feature phone for senior citizens, has an SOS button

The iBall Aasaan2 is the company’s second take on a feature phone for senior citizens. The brand is reviving the series almost three years since the launch of its very first Aasaan handset. We had a chance to review the device back in 2010 and it’s still available for sale through a couple of online retailers in India at a price very close to that of the new one’s.

The iBall Aasaan2 still sticks to the same purpose of serving as a simple communications device for the older population. It’s got a bit of a overhaul this time around so that the overall design is more in keeping with the way today’s feature handsets look like.

One of the biggest changes to have hit the device is the inclusion of dual SIM slots instead of the single one that its predecessor carried. The Aasaan2 has a 1.7-inch display pasted across its front and the mandatory extra large keys, of course. These buttons form a numeric keypad and not a QWERTY one.

A very basic camera can be found on the back panel, just below the orange SOS button. The last mentioned has been redesigned to sport the abbreviation SOS, in white. The phone sticks to 2G for connectivity purposes and it’s got a 1000mAh battery hidden under the hood. Users can add up to 8GB of extra memory via the microSD card slot that iBall has thrown in.

The iBall Aasaan2 carries a price of Rs 2,990. It’s available for Rs 2,940 through Indiatimes Shopping. Other retailers may start stocking it soon too.
