iAd to enter the Ad world through iPhone

iAd Logo For years advertisers have been searching for a medium that would allow them to target the audience at the right time and the right place. Apple’s latest iAd is all set to provide an efficient interactive medium through mobile phones. The application will blend the advantages of the TV and the internet. iAd operates on the iOS 4 platform of the iPhone.

iAd would start showcasing ad campaigns from brands world over such as The Walt Disney Studios, Citi, Best Buy, Chanel, DirecTV, Campbell Soup Company, GEICO, Target, Unilever, JCPenney, Sears, Nissan, State Farm, GE, Turner, Broadcasting System, Liberty Mutual Group and AT&T. Astonishingly, Apple’s iAd has been booked over with commitments for $60 million in 2010. The amount is half of what was forecasted for the second half of the year 2010. The statistics have been taken from the report by JP Morgan “Nothing But Net—2010 Internet Investment Guide,” January 3, 2010.

“iAd offers advertisers the emotion of TV with the interactivity of the web, and offers users a new way to explore ads without being hijacked out of their favorite apps,” remarks Steve Jobs, Apple’s CEO. “iAds will reach millions of iPhone and iPod touch users—a highly desirable demographic for advertisers—and provide developers a new way to earn money so they can continue developing free and low cost applications.”

iAD is well suited for the iOS 4, which enables users to view the ad while concurrently playing a game, checking out a video, or operating an in-ad purchase to download an app or to purchase content from iTunes. A number of ad formats can be easily included into the iAd Network by developers. Apple holds the rights to sell and serve the ads, whereas the developers will receive 60 percent of the iAd Network revenue according to industry regulations. The payment to developers shall be done through iTunes Connect.

The application iAd runs on iOS 4 that will be available as a free software update through iTunes 9.2 for the iPhone. The iOS 4, is well suited to be operated on the iPhone 3G, the iPhone 3GS, and the iPhone 4.
