Huawei moves a step further with the launch of Ideos, an economical smartphone powered with the latest Android 2.2. The handset effectively blends together high-quality hardware and software with a high price-to-performance ratio.

Flaunting downlink speeds of more than 7.2Mb/s, the phone helps users access the internet in several ways. Besides offering WCDMA + WiFi dual network support, it delivers exceptional mobile broadband services. The enticing phone can also function as a Wi-Fi router for around eight devices at one go.

Kevin Tao, CEO of Huawei Device, commented, “The popularity of the smartphone is one of the key tools to bringing people into the Golden Age of Mobile Broadband, which is linked to Google’s mobile Internet strategy. We are proud to have already achieved our goal from early 2010 of developing a US$150 smartphone with an excellent user experience. The IDEOS is an affordable option, designed to lower barriers to entry to allow easy mobile Internet access.”

The phone is available in eye-catching shades of black, yellow, blue, and purple. It lends support to several interesting features like voice dialing, voice navigation, and the ability to run applications off the SD card. Owners can access around 70,000 applications from the Android Market. In addition, Ideos offers a wide array of communication, entertainment, office and financial management applications.

The attractive smartphone is tagged between US$100 and US$200 and will be released in several countries across Europe, Asia-Pacific, North America and Latin America.
