Phones have become a necessity these days since they help the multitude of people to constantly stay in touch from anywhere across the globe. Energizer has taken the covers off its latest offering dubbed the Energizer Inductive Charger that integrates Qi technology. With this device, users can charge their smartphones, cameras, MP3 players or any other device which functions on energy amounting to five Watts or less. This single charging station can replenish the battery of any three devices simultaneously, irrespective of the manufacturer.

This inductive charger is created with Qi technology, which is the universal charging standard built by Wireless Power Consortium (WPC). According to iSuppli, consignments of electronic products with wireless charging capabilities are expected to see a significant increase in the coming years. Hence, it would be beneficial if manufactures could come together to develop an open standardized system. WPC attempted to do just the same by bringing together 55 companies in order to develop the Qi universal standard.

“We believe that a universal standard is the future of charging, and by leading the way with one of the first Qi products – the Energizer Inductive Charger – we are meeting a clear need for a product that makes charging devices easier by eliminating cords and clutter,” asserted Jim Olsen, Vice President of Marketing for Energizer North America. “This next generation charger is a natural extension of an innovative product portfolio that brings more freedom for people to live and to work using power that’s reliable and convenient.”

“The WPC and dedicated members like Energizer have been hard at work developing and testing this universal standard, and we are honored to have a brand with the global reach of Energizer as one of the first to market with a Qi inductive charger,” stated Menno Treffers, Chairman of the Wireless Power Consortium. “They are helping to establish and educate about Qi and drive adoption, benefiting consumers and the industry as a whole.”

The Energizer Inductive Charger has been crafted with assistance from ConvenientPower, which is one of WPC’s co-founder. Designed with two large inductive charging zones, users need not place their handsets in a certain position. They can just keep a compatible device on top of the station in order to power it up. Additionally, it features a USB port which can be attached to any gizmos, thus powering three of them at once. At the time of charging, two LED charge lights flash out indicating that the gadget is being charged. This charger will come with a Qi Sleeve for the iPhone 3GS/3G as well as a Qi Door for the BlackBerry Curve 8900 which can only be replaced once.

The Energizer Inductive Charger can be purchased starting from October for $89, while the removable Qi sleeve for the iPhone 3GS/3G and the Qi door for the BlackBerry Curve 8900 come for an additional $34.99 each.
