Huawei Ascend D1 hits shelves in China, headed to Russia too

Huawei Ascend D1 Phone

It looks like the smartphone market in China is welcoming the Huawei Ascend D1 flush with Ice Cream Sandwich and a Texas TI OMAP 1.5GHz dual core CPU. Apparently, the gadget is quite the star with its good looks, smooth performance and slick entertainment capabilities.

Spread across the front panel of the phone is a 4.5-inch IPS+ screen offering a 1280 x 720 pixel resolution and protected by a layer of Corning Gorilla Glass. The 8MP main camera with a BSI sensor is accompanied by a 1.3MP one for video conferencing. The rear snapper is touted to be capable of taking full HD 1080p videos.

Leaning on 8GB ROM and 1GB RAM, the Huawei handset is packed into an 8.9mm slim and 132g light body. It gets its juice from a 1800mAh battery along with a special power management utility which should keep users going for 30% more time as placed against the ‘industry average.’

Huawei Ascend D1

The company is calling the device its newest flagship dual core handset running on Google’s ICS mobile OS. Engadget says that falling in the same series as the Ascend D Quad may not have been the best thing to happen to this particular phone considering that the former carries a quad core processor.

The Huawei Ascend D1 price appears to be ¥2499. It has already gone up for sale in China, while fans in Russia are scheduled to welcome it in August. There’s nothing concrete on when the phone will hit other parts of the world at all, for the present.
