HTC to possess 50 percent Android based handsets by 2010?

Apparently, HTC plans to increase the number of Android phones in its cache. According to Engadget, by 2010, 50 percent of all HTC handsets are going to run on the Android operating system.

HTC currently possesses just two Android smartphones out of the 28 devices listed in its European website. The rest run on Windows Mobile.

Additionally, 30 percent of HTC phones this year are said to be Android based. Therefore, several of the upcoming Andy Rubin handsets will supposedly be branded with the HTC logo.

Furthermore, in the month of September or October, HTC will apparently launch an entry-level handset that is a high-profile 3G device at the same time. It will feature touchscreen, TouchFlo 3D technology as well as HTC Sense UI. This handset will be based on Qualcomm’s Brew Mobile Platform.

These actions are being carried out supposedly to increase HTC’s competitiveness. However, confirmation is awaited.
