HTC J Butterfly flutters into Japan with 5-inch display

The HTC J Butterfly, a hitherto rumored smartphone, has appeared in Japan where the Taiwanese company has launched it with a ‘coming soon’ tag. The 5-inch display of the handset is in direct competition with Samsung’s recently revealed Galaxy Note 2. No word is out yet upon when the device will be seen making its way to markets other than Japan.

Spotted by Android Police on the Japanese HTC website, this phone boasts of a 5-inch full HD touchscreen display which produces a staggering 440ppi. Under its hood, it’s got a Qualcomm 1.5GHz qua d-core processor as well as 2GB worth of RAM. Its rear camera is of 8MP capacity and supports 1080p videos, whereas, at its front, it carries a 2.1MP snapper.

The handset comes pre-loaded with Android 4.1 Jelly Bean and of course, the HTC Sense 4 user interface. 16GB of memory will be dished out with the model, and it will be expandable till up to 32GB with the help of a microSD slot. It will ship with 4G LTE connectivity, while Wi-Fi 802.11a/b/g/n and Bluetooth 4.0 will also be present on it.

This device will be made available in red, white and black shades. The last big news from HTC came when it unveiled its Windows Phone 8 portfolio – the 8S and the 8X. Both the phones are supposed to hit markets in November this year.

There’s no word however on when the HTC J Butterfly will be launched outside Japan.
