HTC Hero Android update for Orange customers rolling out in the coming week

Orange LogoHTC seems to be in high spirits after integrating the HTC Desire and Nexus One with the SLCD displays. Now, the company flashes light on their yet another smartphone namely the HTC Hero. According to the HTC Hero blog, the handset will now get updated with the Android 2.1 version, more precisely Éclair, for Orange customers in the beginning of next week.

The company confessed for the setback and explained that the testing had taken more time than they had assumed. When the HTC Hero was introduced, it was integrated with the Android 1.5 operating system. With the 2.1 update, users will seemingly enjoy new applications and faster connection to other devices.

As per the official statement from HTC, “We apologise for the delay in Orange Hero customers receiving their Éclair update. Testing the update across European markets took longer than anticipated. However, we hope to receive final approval by the end of the week and Orange handsets should start updating from next week.”

Previously it was reported that Orange customers in the UK were perturbed for not getting the update although owners of T-Mobile phones had already started enjoying the latest version. The first ones to experience the Éclair version was Sprint followed by Cellular South in the U.S.

The details of downloading and availability are still underwraps.
