Yet another smartphone to make its debut on an online shopping portal is the HTC Desire XC, a mid-range device that doesn’t dig that deep a hole in users’ pockets. However, the HTC contender fails to bring the kind of components which much cheaper phones from companies like Micromax, iBall, Lava or Spice amongst others lay on the table.
A successor to the likes of the U and XDS from this series of the Taiwan-based OEM, the HTC Desire XC doesn’t stick to the norm of employing 5-inch screens. It settles for a 4-inch Super LCD touch display of WVGA resolution. Users will be a tad bit disappointed to know that it doesn’t have a front-facing camera, but the handset can take care of their photography needs with the assistance of a 5MP rear-facing snapper which drags along attributes such as digital zoom and auto focus. It goes without saying that the phone can be utilized for recording decent-quality videos as well.
While most of its peers are binging on Jelly Bean, the gadget has to make do with the Ice Cream Sandwich platform’s version 4.0 garnished with Sense 4.0. Nothing has been mentioned about an impending OTA software update either. Its internal working is carried out under the supervision of a 1GHz processor with 2 cores as well as 768MB of RAM. Its 4GB inbuilt memory is likely to prove insufficient and thus the manufacturer offers 25GB of Dropbox storage space, free of charge.
The GPS-enabled smartphone’s communication options include Bluetooth for wireless data transfer and Wi-Fi for web access via open hotspots in the vicinity. A USB port has also been carved into its chassis along with two SIM card slots. The gadget compatible with 2G mobile networks, is fueled by a 1650mAh battery.
The Desire XC is currently up for purchase through Snapdeal for a price of Rs 16,499.
