The launch of the HTC Desire 500 in India has failed to surprise us as the gadget had already made its appearance on various shopping portals back in September. Nevertheless, we are glad that the Taiwanese manufacturer has acknowledged its arrival in India and has given the go ahead to retailers for selling it.

While multiple e-retailers have pegged it at close to Rs 20,500, the company has valued the Desire 500 at Rs 21,490. Interested users can head over to shopping portals like Infibeam, Flipkart, Saholic, Snapdeal and more to book the gadget right away. It is backed by a one-year warranty and EMI options are also available for it.

Coming to the specifications, the Android Jelly Bean-enabled phone that has the latest version of the Sense UI underneath the display can be expected to offer an intuitive interface. And as far as multitasking is concerned, users can rest assured because the gadget hides a quad core 1.2GHz Qualcomm Snapdragon 200 processor under the hood along with 1GB of RAM.

The device compatible with a micro SIM card is adorned by a 4.3-inch capacitive WVGA touchscreen, a 1.6MP webcam and an 8MP fully-equipped primary camera. You get 4GB of internal memory and a microSD expansion slot has been provided for bumping it up by up to 64GB.

Apart from the usual sensors and common communication options, it tags along a 1800mAh lithium-polymer battery that can cough up talk time of over 12 hours in the 3G mode. The power pack’s standby time is said to be around 435 hours.

The HTC Desire 500 can now be purchased in India.
