Users of the HP TouchPad can now update their tablets to webOS 3.0.4 over the air. The highlight of the upgrade is that the TouchPad will be capable of pairing with non-webOS phones and this will allow users to receive calls on the slate.

The upgrade will bring along many new features including a front-facing camera app for photos and videos. The refreshed version enables streamlined pairing with non-webOS Bluetooth keyboards. The TouchPad now lends support to OGG Vorbis music files along with online and offline messaging status support.

As per the official HP Palm blog, webOS 3.0.4 will deliver enhanced performance, more robust Skype video calling and come incorporated with support for accelerometer events in Adobe Flash Player. The user interface has also undergone some improvements such as smarter app icon appearance, responsive tap targets and formatted app description. Moreover, the process of launching and viewing content in the App Catalog has become quicker.

With this update, users are even allowed to add songs from Album view to a playlist. The blog reveals that for providing a better experience to users, the developers have fixed bugs in Maps, Contacts, Calendar and the App Catalog. Support for the Microsoft Exchange Autodiscover service, which aids in the setting up of Microsoft Exchange accounts has also been improved and users do not need to enter server configuration information any more. Furthermore, performance of the Microsoft Exchange Global Address List (GAL) while composing a new email or employing Just Type has been considerably enhanced.

The webOS 3.0.4 update for the HP TouchPad is now available over the air.
