HP iPAQ Silver PhoneAt a recent press event in Hong Kong last month, HP revealed its plans to release a new iPAQ mobile device, the HP iPAQ Silver phone. With a candy bar design quite like Blackberry’s original Pearl, the handset is expected to be available exclusively through Vodafone.

Supposedly powered by Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard, the smartphone is touted to have a full suite of connectivity with 7.2 Mbps HDSPA, Wi-Fi and GPS on board. The handset will additionally sport a QWERTY keyboard and 1100mAH battery. The large battery should satiate frequent users of Wi-Fi and GPS navigation.

The HP iPAQ Silver phone looks actually pretty similar to HP’s earlier smart phone, the 512 Voice Messenger. We are in fact wondering if it’s an update to the same phone which has been around for almost two years now. Sporting a sure type style keypad and great connectivity features, the handset is apparently HP’s first entry into the consumer smart phone terrain.

Though there are no details on pricing and availability of the HP iPAQ Silver phone, the smart phone is expected to hit European stores before the end of this year.
