Healthy life releases hemoglobin A1c application for iPhone

Hemoglobin A1c Application The Apple App store includes number of health applications that will keep you fit and healthy. Healthy Life Laboratories has unleashed their first iPhone application called the A1c Converter for diabetic patients and healthcare professionals.

Keeping a track of blood glucose levels at regular intervals is the key to avoid the serious and complicated problems related to diabetes. The new application has been specifically designed for diabetics in order to better understand the relationship between blood glucose and hemoglobin A1c.

“We wanted to develop an easy-to-use tool to permit those familiar with A1c testing to determine their Estimated Average Glucose (eAG), as recommended by the American Diabetes Association, and at the same time provide a means for patients who are given a target for A1c to use their blood glucose results to estimate their A1c outcome,” says Dr. Jack Maggiore, president of Healthy Life Laboratories.

While glucose meter provides a snapshot of the glucose level in the blood during blood test, the hemoglobin A1c is the test that provides an average glucose level over the past 90-120 days. In order to determine the effectiveness of diabetes therapies, the physicians and diabetic educators utilizes the A1c as a disease management tool.

The application features a two-way calculator wherein the users enter their A1c scores to calculate the average glucose levels and vice versa. There is a sliding scale which constantly shows the relationship between A1c and glucose.

Whats more, the application enables users to answer questions like, “I had a daily glucose of 169 today If my glucose stays at this level, what will my A1c score be?” On the other hand if users know their A1c score, the application will provide their average glucose of past 90 days.

With this productive application, users can now monitor their glucose levels in an easy way than ever before.

The application is available at the Apple App Store but the pricing details are still unclear.
