We’ve always seen new smartphones come out with much fanfare along with its share of leaks, rumors and assumptions. However, Verizon stunned one and all with the way it treated the release Droid 2 Global. Apparently, it is said that the device went up on the carrier’s website without a single word from Verizon or Motorola.

Yesterday, finally breaking its silent over this product the carrier has posted on its Facebook page the pricing details of the Droid 2 Global. It appears as if a small tiny post about the smartphone might not be able to create the right hype required for the launch of a fresh product. This handset is slightly different from the Droid 2, as it is integrated with a global GSM radio.

The Verizon Facebook post highlights, “Now make calls, text, email and browse the web in more than 220 countries with Droid 2 Global. Get it now for $199.99. $299.99 2yr price less $100 mail-in rebate debit card. New 2yr activation and data pack required.”

This small upgrade to the Droid 2 is powered by a 1.2GHZ processor. Further it operates on the latest Google operating system, Android 2.2. The device seems to be a good product for those who need to travel across the globe for business or entertainment purposes.

The Droid 2 Global can be procured online for $199 after a $100 mail-in rebate and two year contract.
