The Google Wallet app is finally ready to be introduced to the world as the digital avatar of that good-old leather wallet, after its announcement in may-end this year. The official Google blog announces the release of its first version of the Goggle Wallet app that will be rolled out on to Sprint Nexus S 4G smartphones through an over-the-air update. Google wallet enables users to simply tap and make payments and it also allows to save transactions using handsets and Near field communication (NFC).

Wallet users as of now can make use of Citi Mastercard (credit) cards while any of their existing credit cards can be used to fund the Google Prepaid cards, which will then be utilized for digital transactions. With Discover, American Express and Visa making their NFC specifications available to Google, they can be expected to jump into the Wallet soon. Along with adding a number of credit cards, Google also aims to get the Wallet app to other smartphones in the future.

For those who plan to set up Google Prepaid card in their Google Wallet, before the end of this year, will receive a free bonus of $10, states the blog. Now monetary transactions will be a breeze, with users having to only carry their mobile phone instead of a number of credit cards that would normally reside in their bulging wallets.
