The need for faster functioning of apps and other software has become inevitable today. Even the folks at Google claim to love speed and ensure their developed software renders a speedy experience. The official Google blog announces that their software team has brought out a new feature entitled ‘direct access numbers’, for their Voice mobile app. The upgrade is revealed for the BlackBerry and Android version of the application.

The application lets users’ text for free and offers low priced international calls. With this app Android and BlackBerry owners can make calls and send messages from their Google Voice numbers. Voicemail is automatically transcripted into text enabling users to read it just like email. Platforms such as iPhone, Palm, Windows, Nokia S60 and others can access it through a web based version from m.google.com/voice.

The new feature has been introduced to enhance the speed of placing calls. Earlier users had to send a request through the app to the Google Voice server, in order to send the number to be dialed, whenever they had to call. Subsequently, with the Google Voice access number the call could be placed.

However, now Google assigns an inimitable phone number to every person the user calls. Thus, Google doesn’t have to access the user’s data network to use the server every time they need to call. This reduces the time taken for the entire process.

The upgrade including the new feature can be obtained by Android users through the Android Market. Blackberry owners can download it on their handsets by visiting m.google.com/voice. Users need a valid Google Voice account to benefit from this app which is currently available only in the U.S.
