Google Voice App graces iTunes

Google Voice App

Just last week, we had reported on the Google Voice Search being augmented with support for underrepresented languages like Zulu, Afrikaans and South African-accented English. The official Google Mobile blog has now elucidated that the company is debuting Google Voice on the App Store.

The native Google Voice for iPhone app integrates all the key Google Voice functions including affordable rates for international calls as well as free text messaging to U.S. numbers. Proffering voicemail transcription, the software will display the user’s Google Voice number as their caller ID when they make calls.

Wondering what new functions this app will bring? Well, it now integrates push notifications with which users will be alerted every time they receive a new voicemail or text message. Calls will be placed through Direct Access Numbers. Thus, the company claims that they will be as fast as regular phone calls.

Google Voice for iPhone can now be procured from the App Store. The app is free and needs iOS 3.1 or later, also it is currently only available in the U.S. Users will need a valid Google Voice account to access the software.
