Google unveils new Android NDK r3 for enhanced graphics

Android Logo Monomaniac about playing games? Here pops up yet another tempting reason. According to Android Developers Blog, Google has just announced a brand-new Android Native Developer Kit r3.

The new offering is a companion tool to the Android SDK that allows Android application developers to build performance-critical portions of their apps in native code. The Android NDK can be used to target Android devices with 1.5 or higher, and topples a number of enhancements.

Pretty enthrallingly, developers building apps for 2.0 or higher will get direct access to OpenGL ES 2.0 features like controlling the way graphics are rendered. The Android NDK r3 proffers users more options to benefit from an Android device’s powers, particularly in the graphics department.

To notify, Android runs applications created in Java through a virtualization process, but the new offering enables developers to build their apps in native code, which is faster and provides higher-quality graphic capabilities. To put it simpler, Android games will now have improved graphics.

The pricing and availability details of new Android Native Developer Kit r3 are yet to be announced.
