The Google Search app has just been refreshed for iOS and Android devices. From now onwards, local results will not just display maps for a specific area, but images, reviews and other details as well.
Once a place is entered into the search box, detailed information covering its accessibility, attributes and prices are made available to concerned users. Apart from just the required result, swiping towards the left or right side will open up alternative options in a similar fashion. This should make it easier to compare different places offering the same utilities, say a restaurant, a fast food joint and so on.
Besides displaying details related to location or prices, the local results present user reviews and images of the place being spied out. The experience is touted to be similar to that seen while accessing Google Search on desktops. Pictures showing the interior of the places along with nearby areas are displayed as part of local results. This should provide the users with a fair idea of the joint they are about to visit and the ability to select a good one.
Generally, when a particular location is typed into the Search bar, a batch of results displaying maps appear on the screen. Now maps will be accompanied by a number of details like those mentioned above for making the experience beneficial. This feature is applicable to most local places like hotels, museums, shops or businesses based on the availability of data.
