Within a span of 24 hours, the Google Nexus 5 has shed the prediction about it being branded Megalodon. It had earlier been expected of the smartphone to have a full HD OLED display as well as 3GB of RAM. By the looks of it, this rumor too seems to have been given a pass.
For starters, the idea of 3GB of RAM crammed into the 5.2-inch Nexus 5 may seem appealing on paper, although not so much in reality. A post on Phone Arena elucidates that phone chipsets in recent times have been employing dual channel memory, which would require the RAM to be split into 2 modules consisting of 1.5GB each. Apparently, the purported smartphone’s dimensions don’t stretch up to an appropriate size in order to accommodate the said component.
The aforesaid post also states that it isn’t a piece of cake to construct a full HD OLED screen, a problem which was faced by Samsung in the process of crafting the Galaxy S4. However, what the device is assumed to be lacking with respect to display and RAM, it will supposedly make up in terms of the integrated camera.
Coming from a tipster (as cited by the website), the snapper will presumably be equipped with a certain ‘triple camera sensor thing,’ apart from being trademarked by Nikon. As far as the quality is concerned, our previous report pointed out that the device would show off a 16MP OmniVision shutter. The front, at the same time, should allot space to a 2.1MP auxiliary webcam.
The Google Nexus 5 will presumably possess a Snapdragon 600 CPU, while the previously speculated Snapdragon 800 processor might well find its way into the company’s 10.2-inch tablet instead, which is also predicted to be in the works.
