Google mobile search updated with shortcuts and markers

Google Mobile Search Map Markers

Just recently, Bing exposed its social side with some added tweaks. The official Google Mobile blog has revealed two new features that have been added to the Google search engine to enhance data access on a mobile phone.

People tend to get lost while searching for a place while on the move. To enable quick search of places around them, the company has put forth new shortcuts for areas such as food joints, coffee shops and so on. The shortcuts are in the form of icons on the homepage which are displayed at the bottom.

Furthermore, the results page will show the present location and places through a map with markers. The map automatically adjusts with respect to the listings, making it simple for the reader to sync the information to the context of the map. Just a click on a particular result will unravel details of the place including reviews.

This upgrade also enables users to carry on lengthy searches in detail. The search box will store the suggested phrases used and allow the search process to go on more easily. This feature is available for Android and iOS handsets and may reach the main domain for the mobile browser too.

The updates basically allow a quick search with less typing. The Google search additions are accessible for devices running Android version 2.2 or above and iOS version 4.0 and above, in 40 languages across the globe.
