Google Maps Navigation for Android 2.0 enabled devices

Google Maps Navigation After the rumors that Google is secretly working on a turn-by-turn navigation service, the official Google Blog has announced the launch of the Google Maps Navigation (Beta), a navigation service designed for Android 2.0 devices.

This new app claims to incorporate all the features of a GPS navigation system. It will provide users with 3D views, turn-by-turn voice guidance and automatic rerouting. The Google Maps Navigation has been designed to take advantage of the handsets Internet connection.

The Google Maps Navigation provides users with seven features that are possible only because of the handsets Internet connectivity. The app allows users to search the addresses in plain English just like Google Maps. The app also allows users an option to search for places by saying the names instead of typing them.

An on-screen indicator glows green, yellow, or red based on the current traffic conditions along the route. This traffic view can be toggled to display the view ahead with just the touch of a button. The other features that this app provides include Satellite view, Street view and Car dock mode.

However, the Blog is has not disclosed whether or not Google will charge a price for this service. We were just wondering about the immediate disadvantage that all the paid navigation apps will have to face if Google plans to provide this service for free.
