After effectively guiding voyagers to their destinations with its Google Maps v5.3, Google is back to enhance the travelling experience. Google Maps 5.5 for Android is now released to simplify checking in and out of places, rating locations, and attaining transit information. This new version has added ‘check in’ and ‘rate and review’ buttons to Place pages and redesigned transit station pages.

The app proffers a Place page to check in places with Google Latitude. Well, Android users can also submit a rating or review by clicking on two new buttons at the top of the listing. Home or work address can be changed by simply editing these addresses within Latitude.

It’s been over two years since Google has included transit directions in Google Maps for Android. This function is now improved with a list of upcoming scheduled departures for different lines, all the transit lines serving the station, and links to nearby transit stations.

The power-packed Google Maps 5.5 can be downloaded by all those using a Android OS 1.6+ device.
