Windows Phone Marketplace to hit the web

Windows Phone Marketplace

With the ‘Mango’ fever refusing to cease, this one may raise the temperature by a degree or two. The Windows Phone Developer blog has revealed that new release of the mobile OS will be accompanied by a web version of the marketplace.

The web version will provide the users a platform for discovering various apps and games. Having a phone in hand is no more a necessity as users can browse the complete catalog along with apps, features and screenshots online.

Users can also share apps with their circle by enclosing links through mail and social networking sites. Buying and installing apps from the Web Marketplace is a quick and simple process. Just a Windows Live ID may do the job and the credit card or a new one may be linked to the purchases.

Apps will be automatically downloaded over-the-air to the Windows Phone, or can be installed later. Users can switch phones and even reinstall apps as the download history is maintained. Parents may keep a tab on the apps accessed by their children through parental control.

The web version of Windows Phone Marketplace can be put to good use by developers as it provides added visibility and sales options in a convenient manner.
