After that blink and miss appearance it made at the iTunes online store, Google Latitude is now available for Apple’s iPhone through iTunes.

Google Latitude lets users see exactly where their friends are on a map and share their respective location continuously through the app. Users can choose to share only city-level location, hide their location or even turn off background upgrading at any point of time.

User location can be shared even when the app is inactive and the device’s display is locked. Background updating calls for an iPhone 3GS or iPhone 4 handset with iOS 4 or higher. Latitude can be can also be accessed from a PC through the Google Latitude site and optional apps like Google Location History turned on for a personal history dashboard.

Version 2.0.0.346 of the Google Latitude app is currently up for downloading through iTunes. It weighs 2.9MB and is available in a variety of languages such as English, Finnish, French, Russian, Turkish, Chinese, German, Korean and Dutch among others.
