Google brings indoor maps to India, covers 75 locations already

Google’s indoor maps are now available in India and the Mountain View-based company has already started offering services for as many as 75 locations in 22 cities across the country. These include malls and even some other places such as Salar Jung Museum in Hyderabad and National Gallery of Modern Art in Delhi.

Commuters and frequent travelers will also be glad to know that airports and train stations have also been taken into consideration. Apart from Hyderabad and Delhi, cities like Mumbai, Pune, Chennai, Kolkata, Ahmadabad, Coimbatore, Bhopal, Dehradun, Ludhiana and more have been bestowed with indoor maps in certain locations.

An accurate floor-based map of various shopping malls and retail stores will be made available. A list of all the supported venues has been put up on the Google Locations page. You only need to zoom in any of these buildings when using the dedicated Android or iOS applications to get a detailed layout of the interiors of these places.

But Google is not the only company which has released this service in the subcontinent. Nokia’s Here Maps already introduced this feature back in 2013 and it is currently available in various shopping malls across 17 cities in India.

Do try the Google indoor maps in the supported locations and drop in a comment to let us know what you think about the service.
